Wedding Planning is in Effect!

We are planning away and we have the time and the place! The ceremony will be on June 14th, 2014 at Noon at St. Michael’s Church in Old Town Chicago and the formal reception for family will be at the Lassandrello Home in New Buffalo, MI at 6pm. An informal reception / dance party will be held the next month on July 19th, 2014 at the Irish American Heritage Center in Northwest Chicago. This informal party will be our way of entertaining everybody whom we can’t invite to the reception after the church ceremony. However, all are invited to the ceremony no matter what. That’s the most important part! Good times will be had by all and we can’t wait. Now, back to planning!

San Francisco & Yosemite

...From June...

We took a trip to California for a family wedding  and in the midst of enjoying another part of the country we got engaged. It was a sparkly night in San Francisco after a fantastic meal at Tadich, the city's oldest restaurant, with friends. We looked out over the city from a 110 year old rooftop above our lovely little studio and he proposed. At first it was, "Okay!" which quickly turned into a, "yes!" I didn't really know what to say or what to do in that situation. I'd never really prepared for it since when we've talked about it in the past, I always thought we'd be waiting a lot longer to get engaged. But he'd been planning it all along. We went down the old caged elevator and I saw the ring in the light for the first time. Absolutely perfect.

The rest of the trip was a celebration of our engagement. The magnificence of national parks is something to cherish outside of today's hustles and bustles of big cities, espcially a national park so naturally breathtaking. Neither of us get out into nature too often. The closest we normally come to nature is the front lawn.

Yosemite National Park is a natural cathedral. God is in those rock formations and glowing views from one part of the valley to the next. It is a spiritual place. The cabin's nooks, crannies and oddities were something we will always remember. It was a place built and decorated with love. It was so quiet, we could hear bees buzzing from the other side of the porch, it was so quiet.

The milky way was above us each night. Varying temperatures at varying altitudes, we changed from sweaters to swimsuits. Like a couple of kids we were finally able to chill out and forget about our lives back home for a few days. I nearly cried when we had to come home.

But the familiarity of home quickly took us back to our lives and the mission to find our doggie was on. And surprise! Flicka arrived!! We are so happy with our new little Tibetan Spaniel mix, with our new engagement, with the life we have together and everything there is to come. Planning a wedding isn't going to be easy, but I know it will be a fun project to keep us busy for the next couple years.
